Established in 2018, Hotel Timila is a Newari-European styled hotel with a Newari outlook and European features. Also known as “Newa Comfort Home”, it has a mixture of Hindu-Buddhist cultures as well as art. Hotel Timila prioritizes service and cleanliness/ hygiene, and security. Their guests’ happiness is what the hotel is proud of. Café Timila is a newly managed café by Hotel Timila, an establishment previously run by foreigners as Silk n Salt. A café with a beautiful ambience, it’s the perfect place for dining and taking pictures, but most importantly, it has good food, a clean environment and efficient service which makes guests visit this café repeatedly. The food here is mostly continental, but they also serve Nepali food as well. A pool full of clear water and colorful fishes adds another dimension of the serenity to the place.

Ram Mani Timalsina, chef at Café Timila, has been in the hospitality business since 2006. His first job was at Hotel Shanker where he worked for five years and with that experience, moved to Dubai where he gained more knowledge before coming back to Nepal. On his return, he joined Hotel Tibet in Boudha where he spent two years. Hotel Modita in Boudha was next followed by Jamshikhel in Fine dining. He finally chose Café Timila over all the other workplaces and says, “Experiencing many places helped me create new food items.” He also believes that culinary services are a big part of tourism and should be neat and clean. New, unique, and good food is what customers come looking for when they arrive in a new country. Café Timila prioritizes a clean place, good food, and good service.

Pork Chop

Pork chop is the main course at Café Timila. Fresh pork is cut into different sizes and left to fuse with oregano, rosemary, fresh herbs, black pepper, and lemon juice for 3-4 hours in a normal chiller. The cooking process is forwarded after which the perfectly decorated pork chop with tomato and rosemary toppings, broccoli beside it and a half-moon shaped mashed potatoes with a beautiful topping arrives at your table. The mouth watering look and aroma of the pork chop is so inviting, you are in a hurry to dig in with your knife and fork.
“The perfect blend of juicy, soft, boneless pork chop and broccoli, and the tasty mashed potatoes with gorgeous decorations was enough for me to enjoy my pork chop,” says Umesh Basnet, Senior Photographer at ECS Media.

Crunchy Momo

As an appetizer, crunchy Momo is one of the signatures dishes at Café Timila. A normal momo is coated with breadcrumbs and deep fried to give it that perfect look of momo and crunchy. My love for momos intensified as I crunched a mouthful of the delicious momos. Though tasty even without pickles, the added flavor of pickles made it amazing. A well-decorated plate of momos accompanied by salad looks very inviting indeed!

Chicken Tikka

Another appetizer you’ll love is Chicken Tikka, an Indian dish. A mixture of curd and Indian spices with the chicken scalded to make a good combination of spicy-sour tastes. Onion topped Chicken Tikka with a tasty-sour salad and green pickles describes a perfect decoration. I enjoyed my Chicken Tikka with the Momo pickle too and discovered a lovely unique taste.

Chef's Special Salad

Go through the menu in the salad section and the Chef’s special salad will be the one your eyes will come to rest on automatically. After reading the short description printed on the menu, you will in no time be ordering the salad. As your order arrives, a well decorated Chef’s special salad will make you happy  you made this choice. The cake made of carrot, chicken, cheese, mayonnaise, chef’s special sauce, with an apple topping is the first thing that draws your attention. As you start eating, you will notice the side salad on the other side and French dressing in the middle. The tasty side salad is a perfect blend for the mixed cake.

Banana Split

After a sumptuous meal, you’d prefer a dessert to balance that food. A Banana split will surely be a good choice after a lovely meal. Normally, you will see different flavors of ice-cream in a bowl. But the half-cut bananas beside the ice-creams with chocolate splits and fruit toppings give it that unique name, Banana split. I tried dipping the banana into the ice-cream and undoubtedly liked the taste. As you have ice-cream, pomegranate adds another flavor.
